PAUL MCCAFFREY

Paul is an award-winning comedian (Latitude New Act of the Year, London Paper New Act of the Year) and headlines at the biggest comedy clubs in the country. He has performed four critically acclaimed Edinburgh shows as well as major music festivals: Reading, Leeds, V Festival, Bestival and Latitude.

In 2019 Paul made his debut on the flagship BBC stand-up show Live at the Apollo. He previously has starred in BBC Three’s Impractical Jokers and Russell Howard’s Good News, Comedy Central’s Stand Up Central, Channel 4’s 50 Funniest, and CBBC’s The Dog Ate My Homework.

‘Born to be a comic’ The Scotsman

‘A total natural, his storytelling is utterly unique and never anything less than gut-bustlingly hilarious’ GQ

LUKE KEMPNER

Luke Kempner has quickly established himself as the UK’s hottest new impressionist for the millennial comedy generation with his contemporary take on pop culture mimicry, amassing over 10 million views online. Luke is part of the Spitting Image cast, which can be seen on BritBox and can be recognised from Steph’s Packed Lunch (Channel 4) where he is a regular contributor/presenter.

Luke’s TV credits include The Last Leg (Channel 4), ITV2’s Stand-Up Sketch Show, Love Island Aftersun and Celebrity Karaoke Club alongside as resident comedian on Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit On The Side (Channel 5) for 9 series. Combining razor sharp stand-up with incisively accurate imitations of international hit box-set binge characters, TV celebrities, social media superstars, fellow comedians, notorious politicians and famous sports names, Luke is also familiar to television audiences with his regular appearances in the BAFTA winning Murder in Successville (BBC3), and as the breakout star of The Imitation Game on ITV1, which led to an appearance on The Royal Variety Performance (ITV1).

DUNCAN OAKLEY

With musical skills that would easily fit into many rock bands Duncan Oakley performs an infectious mix of musical comedy and stand up with one of his trusty guitars – Maurice (Fender Strat), No.7 (acoustic) or his Les Paul by his side.

He has been a musician since the age of six, has performed on the UK comedy circuit since 1999, appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, on BBC Radio 4 and at many summer festivals as well as starring in Beat24’s feature film Frontman and short film Read Between the Signs. Duncan was voted English Comedian of the Year in 2015 and Midlands Comedian of the Year 2016.

NINA GILLIGAN

Nina Gilligan is sometimes outrageous, always hilarious with a charming, loveable persona which belies an acerbic wit. Equally at home in clubs as art centre’s Nina is opening, closing, and hosting gigs up and down the country.

2021 saw her crowned as the WINNER of the prestigious Leicester Mercury Award after also winning Liverpool Hot Water and being a finalist in English Comedian of The Year. Described as ‘A Gem of the Circuit’ and with an ability to ‘Transcend age barriers effortlessly’ she continues to rise through the comedy ranks.

Reviews for this event

Lorraine H reviewed Comedy At The Courthouse which happened on 8:00pm on Fri 8th Sep 2023.

The venue didn’t have a wine list & our server didn’t know what the prices were, so we had to google it for her. The comedy was pretty weak. Some people in the audience were complaining to the comics but were met with defensive insults rather than clever responses. It was quite uncomfortable. Some people left early as it was so bad. I stayed until the end in case it got better but unfortunately I won’t be returning for the comedy night

The staff were probably temporary staff but should still have had some training.
