Bliss Comedy - a night of uplifting laughter

Join us for a hilarious evening of comedy at Liberty Bell Coffee, 5 Hamilton Street, Birkenhead, CH41 6DL.  This event promises to be a night filled with joy, humour, and good vibes.

Bliss Comedy is hosted by Mary Cross, comedian, radio presenter and pun queen who is looking to create a wonderfully diverse and safe space for everyone to enjoy a night of comedy.

We aim to provide a platform for the rising stars of the UK comedy scene alongside giving opportunities for newer comics to perform.  All of our previous events have sold out and we have a regular and devoted fan base who come back time and again.

This month we have we have a brilliantly varied line-up with something for everyone!

Joining us this month are:

Headliner: Chloe Reynolds

Chloe Reynolds is a fast-rising stand-up comedian and winner of the Leicester Comedy Festival Comedian of the Year 2026. A regional finalist in the BBC New Comedy Awards and a finalist in LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year 2025

Blending sharp self-deprecation with an absurd edge, Chloe’s comedy draws on her experiences with identity and transition.

Stephen Catling

Stephen Catling is an alternative comedian whose act combines energetic surrealism, physical comedy, characters and absurd ideas with regular performances at venues including Glee, Monkey Barrel and Just the Tonic.

  • Keep It Fringe Award winner (2023)

  • Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year finalist (2023)

  • Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality nominee (2023 and 2025)

Jess Corcoran

Jess Corcoran is a musical comedian who is equal parts vulgar and saintly. Her hilarious hits include such classics as 'Big Bouncing Titties', 'Surprise Periods' and 'Did you just Fart?!'. Winner of the Craichead Gong show 2025, she's sure to make you laugh with her titillating tunes!

Tom Owen

Approaching middle age with all the grace of swan having a constant existential crisis, taking the boring conversations to "isn't the weather odd?" To "do you think the Government controls the weather?" And "Do you know the disturbing origins of Jelly babies?"

Seen at Creatures, Halifax and Museum of Comedy comedian of the year and Burnley's Nutter's Cauldron Comedian of the year finalist.

Lilly Crowholes

Lilly Crowholes is a 37-year-old raver trapped in the body of a dinner lady. A North West comedian with a filthy mouth, a questionable past and absolutely no business having a filter, Lilly delivers smutty humour, brutally honest storytelling and enough oversharing to get herself permanently removed from the family WhatsApp.

A finalist in Yorkvik Comedian of the Year 2026, Lilly is the founder and host of Nutters Cauldron Comedy and has performed at Hot Water Comedy Club, Creatures Comedy and The Big Shaun Experience, as well as making her Edinburgh Fringe debut earlier this year.

What people are saying:

“Superstar in the making” — Tony Vino

“The child I worry most about” — My mum

“Funny for a woman” — A chap in my local

Ryan Woods

Ryan is an energetic storyteller from the North West comedy scene, combining outrageous tales, absurd observations, quick punchlines and plenty of puns. His style is earthy and outspoken, with a surprisingly wholesome streak

MC Mary Cross

After breaking on to the comedy scene in 2022, founder of Bliss Comedy, Mary Cross, aka the Punning Linguist, has quickly become a firm favourite on the circuit with her own brand of high-energy comedy which leaves audiences on a euphoric high.

Shortlisted for the Funny Women Awards in 2023 and 2025, a sellout show in the Women in Comedy Festival and Lancaster Comedy Festival and UK Pun Championship Semi-Finalist in the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2024, 2025 and 2026, Mary's combination of relatable stories, original songs and linguistic acrobats is a sure-fire winner.

“Mary Cross is confident, charming, and charismatic. One of those people who has a real infectious sense of humour, a warm wit that really makes you all feel in on the jokes, not just that they’re being told to you”

“Mary is just unambiguously funny, and a great watch for really anyone, but especially the kind of folk who come to our shows. She's absolutely wonderful.”

Honestly this was a fantastic night of fun, frivolity, filth but sadly no fornication. The acts were fantastic, for some it was only their 3-4th time doing standup but they did an amazing job. Hats off to them all as performing in such an intimate venue (a crowd of 40), standing literally 2ft from your audience is probably more nerve wracking than performing to hi Fred’s with a bright light shining in your face. The acts were courageous, funny, diverse and happy to wear their heart on their sleeve. Audience participation is a must to 1) enjoy the gig & 2) give the acts the recognition they deserve m. Well done to all involved & I can’t wait to come to the next 1. PS you could definitely up your prices as 3hrs of top notch comedy was definitely worth more than £8. I donated another tenner as it was easily worth the money. Keep up the good work guys. You were AWESOME 🙌
