After a nice debut show in May, Shenanigans Comedy comes back to the Cumberland Arms in June with another great offering of top comics trying out new material to another hopefully lovely audience.
This month our headliner is the always brilliant GAVIN WEBSTER. A truly hilarious and unique comic, Gav is one of comedy's greatest unsung institutions having gigged and toured extensively for over 2 decades. In the past, he has supported the likes of Lee Evans, Jack Dee and Phill Jupitus and in 2014 won "Comedian's Comedian" (formerly known as "Best UK Live Stand-Up"). He also hosts a weekly radio call-in show called "The Comedy Results" and recently appeared in a supporting role in Ken Loach's "I, Daniel Blake" (remember, he was Danny Blake's mate who couldn't get him any work?).
Opening the show isn't the fantastic Ben Crompton as the poster says but instead the equally brilliant LEE KYLE. Lee was meant to open our inaugural show last month but had to drop-out very last-minute and when this month's opening act got called away on acting work, Lee was the very obvious person to draft in as a more-than-worthy replacement. Lee's one of the best acts going in the North East, some would say the best unsigned comedian in the UK, but he's not just a top comedian; he is also a great MC, children's entertainer, book author, football pundit, podcast host, flag expert, ex-professional wrestler and also cult leader. He likes to be stupid and whatever the opposite of satire is, that is what he’s going to do. ‘A brilliant performance, pure genius!' - NARC Magazine.
And hosting is SIMON BECKWITH Hot on the heels of his solo show "Get Lush", geordie Si will bring his genial nature and what The Crack describes as "Razor sharp wit" to the show. Si often performs and compères at The Stand Comedy Club and runs his own comedy nights around the area.
Also performing are KATHERINE TANNEY ("Solid material and striking delivery" - Gigglebeats) and JOHN GIBSON (as heard on Sod the Tories Podcast).
