RIPROAR COMEDY | Stand Up & Boogie at The Empire Coventry
Doors open 6.30pm
On stage 8pm - 10pm
THE EMPIRE is delighted to be working with the Riproar Comedy Club, one of the country’s longest running comedy clubs.
Since his 1st Gig in December 2013, Jason has gone from strength-to-strength as a performer, gigging throughout the UK and adding improv/MCing/Sketch-Writing/Character strings to his bow; all with the aim of sharpening his style of anecdotal, unapologetic, out-for-belly-laughs stand-up. Within 3 years he's written 3 new festival shows which he's performed in Edinburgh (Fringe), Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Melbourne (UK!) and Croyden.
Well-written sharp gags & stories tied together with a stage persona that warms an audience instantly.
Unafraid to push the boundaries with his humour, and often smashes through them altogether with a sense of glorious purpose, willing to say what we're all thinking commentary
This is a comic who has real presence on stage and can use this to his advantage
Notts Comedy Review
Dominic started comedy young and wide eyed back in 2001, with over 12 years experience on the UK circuit he's a safe pair of hands.
He's cheeky, charming, full of energy and hilarious.
Now married with a mortgage, Dominic weaves side-splitting stories about his life and tells belly aching jokes that hit the mark with all audiences. There's a naughty twinkle in his eyes but his act is warm, personal and inoffensive.
Dominic is always in demand as an act and compere. He regularly performs in comedy clubs all over the UK and abroad. He's also great for sportsman's dinners and corporate functions and can adapt his act to any audience and he can be squeaky clean if needed.
Wayne (The Weird) Shakespeare
Master of stupidity and nonchalance Wayne has been entertaining audiences with his conjuring comedy up, down, left and right of the British Isles for over 2 years now.
Currently doing paid 15's & 20's for various promoters. Winner of gong shows and various other competitions, add this idiot to your line-up NOW!
Puzzling young man. The Stage
Outrageous comedian and magician. The Southern Daily Echo
No-one in the audience will ever be able to look at rubber gloves and white rabbits in the same way again. Creative Cows Comedy
Clean, classy, clever. ARGUS TONIGHT
Palmer's ability to take us back is where he really shines. His keen observation of the neurotic quirks of every human being shoves a mirror in our faces and allows us to laugh at the dumb things we do on a daily basis. What's On In Cape Town
Mark Palmer has been performing and honing his skills for over 11 years becoming one of South Africa's most sought after comedians and he is now based in the UK. Mark brings you great comedy with no harmful side-effects. What? No Vulgarity, No Cringing, No Embarrassing Situations?
Oh yes ... once you see Mark live you will never forget him! Mark gets his material from the daily perils of being newly married, babysitting other people's kids, airport madness, the advances of technology and general social commentary on every day life. But you are thinking it must be difficult to work clean all the time, right? "Clean comedy is easy. Funny comedy is hard." Mark is both.
Riproar is the baby of born and bred Coventry lad, David Trew. Aged 21, David moved to Bristol for University and has been there ever since. After 9 years in corporate sales, he eventually fulfilled a lifelong desire to have his own comedy club. In 1995, he founded, owned and operated Jesters Comedy Club, which ran for the next 16 years, becoming one of the city’s best-known night time venues, and one of the U.K.’s best comedy clubs. In 2011, David stepped up, and relocated in the city centre of Bristol, changing Jesters to Riproar to suit this bold new move.
Since 1995, David’s venues have had many (now) household names grace the stage. These include, Peter Kay, Catherine Tate, Bill Bailey, Russell Howard, Russell Brand, Alan Carr, Jimmy Carr, Jon Richardson, Sean Lock, Dara O’Brien, Phill Jupitus, John Bishop, Marcus Brigstocke, Matt Lucas and Joe Lycett.
Riproar continue to book their own line-ups, free of agency ties, using who they believe are the best professional comedians currently gigging in the U.K. It is this policy that led to the booking of the names above, before they became the superstars they are now.
So, if you want to sit within arm’s length of comedians, some of whom are highly likely to become the next Peter Kay or Jimmy Carr, then Riproar is the place to be.
Operating in the main auditorium for three ‘soft-launch’ dates before Christmas, you can expect to see four of the circuit’s best comedians at each show. One of them will act as host and compere, chatting to the audience at the beginning of each section of the show. The show is in three sections, with a beer/comfort break between each one.
Arrival time at the venue is 6.30 – 7.30pm for a 8pm show start time.
Seating is pre-allocated to your group.
Full details of how the club operates can be found on Riproar’s website.
Rip Roar Comedy kindly requests that all customers should be aged 18 years of age or older.
Proof of age may be required at the point of entrance and any persons found to be under 18 years of age will not be permitted entrance to the venue.
