TweetNewcastle United Ruined My Bloody Life
written and performed by Gavin Webster
The heartache and misery of supporting a football team of over 40 years but rather like a wayward family member
you still have to look out for them despite them always letting you down. I'll try and give my explanation as to why NUFC doesn't work properly, why me and countless others have wasted hours of time and loads of dedication into an ultimately moribund cause. How we cling on to the great moments, re-live the bad moments in a masochistic way and almost fear success. There's the hatred of the new fan, the corporate fan, the post 1992 Keeganites and of course there's the incredulity of the motivation of our nearest rivals. Also a swipe at modern culture, class, religion and race issues. From a Geordie comedian, writer, actor and football fanatic this is the ultimate show for the dispossessed and the angry over 40s.
Gavin Webster started his comedy career in 1995. He was a regular team captain in Channel 4's Does Doug Know? and is an established name on the circuit. He has also supported Lee Evans, Jack Dee and Phill Jupitus on tour. In 2014, he was named UK Circuit Comedian of the year, as voted for by fellow professional comedians online.
