Maria was born in the Philippines, raised all over southern California including Los Angeles, Imperial Valley and San Diego. Growing up a half Filipino half Mexican fat kid wasn't easy, there wasn't really a space for her... those classroom aisles were a tight squeeze. So she decided the world was going to make space for her one way or another.
