Unseen Mitch Hedberg pilot emerges

In a delightful twist of fate, rare footage of the late American stand-up comedian Mitch Hedberg has emerged from the depths of Doug Stanhope's crawl space. Stanhope, a fellow comedian, stumbled upon a half-hour pilot Hedberg recorded for MTV back in 2001, which he has now generously shared on YouTube.

The pilot features Hedberg's signature surreal one-liners and includes appearances from his wife, comedian Lynn Shawcroft, as well as tour companions Eddie 'The Possum Man' Carnavale, an MC named Rico, and a bass player named Chuck. The footage was captured during a seven-day comedy tour around California and, despite never airing, showcases Hedberg's quirky comedic brilliance.

Adding to the comedic antics, Stanhope can be seen in the pilot pranking Carnavale by impersonating a talent agent, all under Hedberg's direction. For fans craving more, Stanhope has uploaded a home movie titled 'This' on his Patreon page.

In related news, film director Jeff Siegel is working on a comprehensive documentary chronicling Hedberg's life and career, having conducted over 100 interviews to piece together the late comedian's legacy.
