Michael Palin, beloved Monty Python star, treated his hometown of Sheffield to a special performance of a deleted scene from 'Life Of Brian'. It was the first time in over a decade that Palin graced the stage with Monty Python material in Sheffield, and the audience at The Crossed Wires Podcast Festival lapped it up.
Attempting to read 'The Martyrdom of St. Brian', Palin broke into laughter at mentions of Brian’s ‘fingers full of naughtiness’, much to the crowd's delight. The scene, which didn’t make the final cut of the 1979 movie, found its way on the troupe’s 'Contractual Obligation Album' the following year.
This comedic treat was part of a recording for 'Nobody Expects The Michael Palin Podcast!' hosted by Greg James, a self-confessed Palin superfan. James expressed his excitement about chatting with his hero about his comedic journey and influential career.
In other festival highlights, Jarvis Cocker lent his iconic voice to a special edition of the BBC’s Shipping Forecast, commemorating its centenary. Cocker noted the Forecast's dual role as both a weather guide and a soothing mantra for insomniacs.
The Crossed Wires Podcast Festival continued to entertain with its lineup of events throughout the weekend.
