John Oliver to Visit Kimmel Tonight, Fresh Off Emmy Wins

John Oliver, who picked up another two Emmy Awards Sunday night, is set to pay a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday night.

If Oliver feels like a frequent presence on late night, it’s because he is. In addition to appearing weekly on his own HBO late-night series, he also holds the unique distinction of being modern late-night’s most ubiquitous guest.

With his appearance on Kimmel tonight, he will have racked up a grand total of 69 appearances across all the major shows: JKL, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Oliver’s last visit to another late-night show came just two weeks ago on The Late Show, where, at 21 billed appearances, he’s also Colbert’s most frequent guest.

Oliver is in the middle of Last Week Tonight’s 12th season, which returns on September 21st after taking this weekend off for Sunday’s Emmy Awards. He’s also set to continue his standup residency with Seth Meyers at NYC’s Beacon Theater that same night.

But it’s sure to be the Emmys that take center stage during Oliver’s chat with Kimmel. Both hosts are coming off of an eventful night at the Los Angeles ceremony.

Last Week Tonight won against Saturday Night Live for Outstanding Scripted Variety Series, and also saw its writers take home another win. Jimmy Kimmel Live! came up short against Colbert—but no worries: that’s exactly what Kimmel wanted.

Oliver’s last time guesting on JKL was in January 2024. Rounding out JKL‘s lineup tonight are actor Frank Grillo and music from Zac Brown Band.
