Jimmy Fallon Announces Guests for Tonight Show’s Detroit Episode

Jimmy Fallon has revealed the guest lineup for The Tonight Show’s upcoming one-night-only trip to Detroit. Keegan-Michael Key, Detroit Pistons All-Star Cade Cunningham, and Grammy-winning rapper-actor Common will join Fallon for the special episode, which tapes this Sunday at the Detroit Opera House and will air Monday, September 15 on NBC.

Fallon announced the lineup on Thursday’s Tonight Show. “We have lots of fun stuff planned, lots of surprises,” he added. “I can’t wait to see you, Detroit. So get ready. It’s gonna be good.”

All three guests have ties to the city. Key was raised in Detroit, Cunningham plays there, and Common recorded his first album there.

The episode will mark The Tonight Show’s first-ever visit to Detroit. It is being presented in partnership with Ford Motor Company, which has supported the Detroit Opera House for more than two decades through Ford Philanthropy. Fallon himself has collaborated with the automaker for five years, often featuring Ford in branded segments on the show.

With late-night budgets tightening, Ford’s sponsorship appears to be helping make the production possible. Fallon’s last road episode aired from Puerto Rico in 2019.

Coincidentally, Jimmy Kimmel is also taking his first road trip since before COVID when he brings his show back to Brooklyn for a week of shows late this month.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35am on NBC, with episodes streaming the following day on Peacock. Visit our lineups area for updated guest listings for all the late-night shows, and subscribe to our newsletter to get stories like this in your inbox.
