Edinburgh TV festival to honour Lenny Henry

The Edinburgh TV Festival is set to bestow a prestigious outstanding achievement award upon Sir Lenny Henry. Recognized for his influential career shaping British television and culture, Sir Lenny expressed his gratitude with humor, promising to don a kilt and go commando in celebration.

The festival also unveiled its award shortlists, with 'Alma's Not Normal,' 'Big Boys,' 'Dinosaur,' 'Ludwig,' 'Mr Bigstuff,' and 'We Are Lady Parts' vying for the best comedy series title. In the best comedy actor category, nominees include Anjana Vasan, Lucy Punch, Nabhaan Rizwan, Oliver Savell, Philippa Dunne, and Sophie Willan.

Ashley Storrie is nominated for best breakthrough performance for her role in 'Dinosaur,' while Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning are up for best TV actor in a drama. Entertainment heavyweights like 'Last One Laughing' and 'Taskmaster' are also in the spotlight, and presenters Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan face competition from Ant & Dec, Graham Norton, and Claudia Winkleman.

Adding to the excitement, Munya Chawawa is in the running for best presenter of a factual show with his documentary 'How to Survive a Dictator: North Korea.' The full list of nominees can be found on the festival's website.

The ceremony, hosted by Nick Mohammed on August 21 at the EICC, promises to be a laughter-filled affair. Mohammed, reflecting on his previous awards hosting gig, humorously noted that things could only get better from here.
