First on LateNighter: Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen has unveiled its initial lineup of guests for its upcoming CBS return, set to launch Monday, September 22 at 12:37 a.m. ET/PT.

The roundtable-style comedy series hosted by Byron Allen will launch with new episodes featuring comedians Caroline Rhea, Bill Engvall, Finesse Mitchell, Jay Mohr, Jamie Kennedy, Helen Hong, Jeff Dye, and Brad Williams among its first guests.

CBS will air two half-hour episodes of Comics Unleashed back-to-back each night: new episodes Monday through Thursday in the first half-hour, followed by repeats from the show’s archives in the second. Fridays will feature a rebroadcast of one of the show’s newly-produced episodes paired with an additional archive episode. Episodes will also be available to stream live on Paramount+ via local CBS affiliate feeds.

Allen Media Group plans to produce 132 new episodes of Comics Unleashed this season, with tapings having begun in August.

The show’s timeslot predecessor, After Midnight with Taylor Tomlinson, was canceled earlier this year following Tomlinson’s decision to return to stand-up full-time, leaving CBS without an original 12:37 late-night series for the first time in three decades. As LateNighter first reported, the network has leased the slot to Allen’s company in what’s known as a time-buy arrangement.

First launched in syndication in 2006, Comics Unleashed brings together four stand-up comics each night to trade jokes and stories with Allen as moderator. Allen will continue as executive producer alongside his mother Carolyn Folks and wife Jennifer Lucas, with comedian Jodi Miller joining the team this season.
